Inherited Neuropathy Fellowship Program

We are pleased to announce as part of our CMTA funded Inherited Neuropathy Consortium (INC), a one year inherited neuropathy fellowship starting between January and August 2027. 

This fellowship is aimed at clinically qualified applicants usually in neurology. US applicants will be expected to have completed a residency in neurology or equivalent and preferably one year of a neuromuscular fellowship. Under certain circumstances more senior applicants including those starting junior faculty positions will be considered. For applicants, an essential requirement will be the long term career aim to develop a clinical or laboratory research interest in hereditary neuropathies. 

The fellowships are individualised and tailored to suit the individual fellow but will always offer a broad training in all aspects of clinical research in inherited neuropathies as well as an opportunity to conduct a more detailed research project of the fellow’s choice. The fellowships will be based in one of the INC sites in the US (Clinical Sites | Inherited Neuropathy Consortium) and are planned to start between January and August 2027. Professor Mike Shy, the director of the INC is based at the University of Iowa, US and Professor Mary Reilly, the director of the fellowship programme is based in London, UK. There are also many other US centres participating in the consortium and other international centres in the UK, Italy and Australia. Fellowships are flexible in where they will be based depending on the specific needs and research interests of the fellow.
